I have sailed small sailboats in west Texas, including some racing. Moved to San Antonio a few years ago and looking to get out on the water locally! I enjoy racing, but mostly looking for some casual sailing too. I sail at Abilene Sailing Association, and help manage their website. Boats I have sailed include: Precision 23, Precision 165, RS Aero, Laser, Banshee, Macgregor 25, and Sunfish.
Mainly Hobie’s and board boats, some Lazer, Catalina, and a little crew time on a J one day this summer.
Grew up in Newport RI sailing since I was 4. RI High School dingy racing team and college dingy and keelboat racing at Mass Maritime Academy. Been with the Privateer sailing team on original swan 48 and Cookson 50 since 2004. Two Fastnets, Two Bermuda races, and too many other offshore races to count from East Coast to Caribbean. Haven’t been sailing much since moving to Houston in 2018 and looking to get back into it.
Sailed with Pete Macler for about six months on his 28′ Precision and sailed with Jeff Richards on his Flying Scot for about one and a half years.
ASA 101 and 103 complete, but still very new to sailing. Looking to gain experience by participating in racing.
I sailed small sailboats every summer as a teenager, Mirrors and Hobie Cats. Have crewed on and off since then. Certified Divemaster, avid open water swimmer, so comfy in/on/around the water.

Sailing keelboats, sailing dinghies. I grew up sailing in Connecticut on 12 – 50 ft boats. I crewed on races at the Austin Yacht Club. I sail a dinghy at Canyon Lake regularly.
Around 30 years racing and cruising from lasers to offshore on 50ft yachts.
Not sailed in Texas but sailed in all weathers in Scotland and Ireland.
I’m a tall guy so might be a bit large for some smaller boats.
