csiegel21@tamu.edu
Experience:
I have been sailing small boats since I was small. Recently, my dad bought a Catalina 22′ and we have been sailing that for a couple of years now. This year I also joined the competitive sailing team at Texas A&M Galveston. I have skippered for two regattas with them and crewed for one on the 420s. I am looking for a way to stay active in the race scene over the summer.

Experience:
I grew up with canoes and fishing boats, but graduated to racing on Lake Travis in Catalina 22s and even had a bit of “Ensign Butt” and a tour of (light) duty on a judge’s boat. I crewed on the 1877 Tall Ship Elissa in Galveston for more than two years and guest-crewed on the Yankee Schooner out of Cape May, NJ. I have experience sailing with members of the Clear Lake and Galveston sailing communities and was an active participant in Power Squadron, taking as many classes as possible. I would love to crew on any size boat as long as I don’t have to perform a boxhaul or a keelhaul! Though I have been landlocked for a few years, I am a perpetual learner and interested in learning more about crewing and captaining. I am also a licensed ham operator and a certified SCUBA diver. I live local to the club, and am currently available for weekday and weekend sails. I am also available to help with dry-dock duties and boat maintenance.

First with my Dad (Richard Gregory, #2589) at Fleet 6 (Deep Creek YC) and then later at Fleet 6 (DCYC) after I bought my own Scot (#3993) in 1984. I have competed in about 6 Nationals as my Dad’s crew and 1 Mid-Winter with my own boat. As a crew, I read the wind well and am very comfortable setting and flying the Spinnaker.

Experience:
Easy going, 47 year old overweight male seeking help (wow, sounds like a dating app). Started sailing as a youth for a few years in Sea Scouts and then very rarely over my young adult life. Joined LCYC in 2014 to rediscover sailing and have kept a 25′ Catalina in slip since we joined. (Currently moving to a 30′ Hunter) Kid’s and I were active at first, taking it out every couple of weeks, but over the last two years that has tapered off dramatically. I have taken a few ASA classes, but would like to learn more about regattas, racing, and better trim, as well as increasing my participation and activity at the club.

Experience:
I grew up learning to sail on my father’s Hobie 18. He spent decades sailing all along the California coast and in San Francisco bays on regattas and races and made me love the water from the beginning of life. I bought my own Hobie 16 when I turned 15 and was out on Lake Mendocino in Northern California almost every weekend there was wind, even into the cold weather. I’m now 36 years old and it’s been almost 15 years since I’ve been out (moved to the desert and then school/life got in the way). I’ve been thinking about getting myself a new boat, but really just want to get out on the water and fly some hulls if I can get a chance. Closest thing to a religious experience I’ve had was at full tilt, hulls up, trapped out piercing white caps solo.
